Congratulations to Etowah High School in Woodstock GA. According to the Cherokee Tribune, Etowah HS is joins a select group of only 254 public schools nationally to be selected as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2010.

The US Department of Education awards public and private elementary, middle and high schools for either achieving at very high levels or for  making significant progress towards closing the achievement gap among disadvantaged or minority students.  Etowah High School was chosen for the award for high achievement on standardized state assessment tests.

The national Blue Ribbon award program started in 1992- Etowah HS is the second high school in Cherokee County to receive the award following Sequoyah HS in 2005.  Only six public schools statewide made the list this year and only one other high school in GA was picked for this elite honor.

Way to go Etowah High School!
